Snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh

Snowfall occurred at a few places in Himachal Pradesh even as minimum temperatures rose by some notches across the state, MeT department said.

Precipitation occurred at isolated places over mid and high hills of the state during the last 24 hours, it said.

Snowfall was received in some parts of the state. The snowfall received in Manali - 21 mm, Udaipur - 10 mm and 3 mm at Keylong, Kalpa and Moorang each.

The minimum temperatures increased by 1 to 20 degrees Celsius with the lowest minimum temperature recording at Keylong at minus 7.5 degrees Celsius while the highest maximum temperature was recorded at Berthin at 22.5 degrees Celsius.
 

The rainfall recorded at some other places was - Manali - 12 mm, Sarahan - 10mm ,Tissa-8 mm, Mashobra-7mm, Kasol-6mm, Naina Devi - 4mm, Bajaura and Kotkhai - 3 mm each and 2 mm each at Dharamshala and Kumarsain.

The minimum temperatures at Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Mandi, Bhunter, and Kalpa were 4, 1, 4.4, 3.9, 2, and minus 7.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum temperatures at Dalhousie, Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala, Sundernagar, and Kangra were recorded at 5.7, 7.4 14, 14.6, 19, and 19.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

The MeT department has forecast that due to Western Disturbances, an upper air cyclonic circulation over eastern parts of Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan shall bring rain or thundershowers at many places of Himachal with snow at high altitude places.

It has predicted that the weather will remain dry from February 4.
