The socio-economic and caste census (SECC) being undertaken by the government to identify Below Poverty Line people in the country is expected to be completed in four months, Lok Sabha was told today.
"As on November 30, 2014, draft list has been published in 412 districts and final lists have been published in 91 districts.
"Taking into consideration the progress made so far by the states/Union Territories, it is expected that the census operation would take at least 3-4 months," Rural Development Minister Birender Singh informed Lok Sabha in a written reply.
SECC was launched in June, 2011, and an amount of Rs 3,543 crore has so far been released towards it.
