Software technology parks to be set up in Haryana

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Digital India' mission, the Haryana government will set up three software technology parks in the state along with an 'Electronics and ICT Academy'.

Stating this here today, spokesperson of the Electronics and Information Technology Department said that the academy would be set up at NIT, Kurukshetra, to improve the skills of the faculties working in colleges and technical institutions across Haryana.

Director, NIT Kurukshetra will prepare a detailed proposal in this regard for submission to the central government for approval, he said.

Keeping in view the growth of IT and IT-enabled industries in the state, the department has initiated steps for setting up of Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) at Panchkula, Rai, and Rohtak.
 

Draft feasibility study reports have been sent to the central government for approval, he said, adding the STPI in Gurgaon is ready for inauguration.

Haryana has aligned its vision with the three focus areas of Digital India programme which are - digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, governance and services on demand, and digital empowerment of citizens, he said.

Haryana currently accounts for 6.8 per cent of employment in the IT sector throughout the country, the spokesperson said.
