Rubabuddin, through his advocate Mukul Sinha, today filed an application seeking permission from the high court to allow him to join as party to oppose the bail application of Chudasama.

In his application, Rubabuddin has said that he has vital interest in the outcome of the bail and claimed that "Chudasama is a very senior police officer with strong political connections and wields a lot of influence and can adversely influence the witness if he is granted bail during the pendency of the trial."

He has also expressed his and his family's apprehensions that if Chudasama is set free on bail, they will feel endangered. "As I have stated in the statement before the CBI, we were also attempted to be coerced by Chudasama," he added.

Chudasama, the then DCP of crime branch, Ahmedabad, has been named as one of the main conspirators in the case by CBI in its charge sheet. In August last year, the special CBI court had dismissed Chudasama's bail petition on the grounds that he has been cited as the main conspirator in the case by CBI.

Chudasama has challenged the order in HC and his petition is likely to come for hearing before the Single Judge on July 19.

Rubabuddin, on whose petition, the Supreme Court ultimately directed the investigation to CBI to probe the larger conspiracy behind the encounter of Soharabuddin Shaikh, the murder of his wife Kausarbi and the encounter of Tulsi Prajapati, who was the prime witness of their death.

He as also opposed the bail applications of other accused cops including Vanzara and supported the application of CBI, in SC, for the cancellation of bail of former Home minister of the state and accused Amit Shah.
