A number of remote areas in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh are facing acute water crisis due to the damage caused to the pipelines by landslides and massive soil erosion after recent heavy rains.
The worst affected are the Salooni, Singadhar, Manjeer and Digei panchayats of the Churah sub-division, where people are forced to trek long distances to procure water.
Department officials, however, have said work has been started on war footing to repair the pipelines and restore water supply.
The people affected people have said they will meet Chief Minsiter Virbhadra Singh and apprise him of the problem during his visit to Chamba for Minjar fair.
