Solar Heater for 104 Hostels

: Solar heaters will soon be set up in 104 school hostels in the district maintained by SC/ST Welfare Department at a cost of Rs two crore, Collector K Vivekanandan said today.

All basic works to establish such Solar Energy System were triggered, he said.

Speaking after inaugurating a training camp for women Self Help Group members to handle and maintain Solar Systems here, he said public and students should extend cooperation to attain Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's 'vision 2022."

He claimed the state is marching towards attaining self sufficiency in Electricity power generation and use by 2015. The public should also avail all schemes implemented by the Government in conventional and non-coventional energy,he said.
 

Solar Energy Systems have also been established in Green House Schemes and the Agricultural sectors. In future, all energy sourced works would depend on solar support, he said.

To handle Solar Energy System apparatus and instruments, special training was being given to SHG women members in the district by which 80 SHG members from eight Blocks and 10 former child labourers werebenefited in the first phase of training. The 45 day training is being given free of cost..
