Solar power projects of 250MW to come up in Punjab

Punjab government will soon allocate solar photo-voltaic power projects of a total capacity of 250MW to private players with the move expected to bring in an investment of Rs 2,000 crore.

"Solar power projects with a total capacity of 250MW will be allocated very shortly to 27 firms with the financial bids (for the same) having been opened," state non-conventional energy minister Bikram Singh Majithia said today.

Majithia said these projects will entail an investment of Rs 2,000 crore.

Companies like Lanco Solar, Punj Lloyd, Asopus, Azure, etc. Have responded to the Punjab Energy Development Agency's call inviting expressions of interest for these projects, which are in the capacity of 1MW to 30MW.
 

Majithia further added that the companies had quoted tariff in the range of Rs 7.20 to Rs 8.71 per unit for 1MW to 4MW capacity projects and Rs 7.56 to Rs 8.74 per unit for of higher capacity projects upwards of 5.30MW.
