The mortal remains of Anmol Pratap Singh, who was among two soldiers killed in an avalanche in Chang La pass in Ladakh, were today consigned to flames with full military honours at his native village in Kanpur district, police said.

According to Additional City Magistrate (First) Yogendra Kumar, the body was flown to Lucknow's Amausi airport last night where he was given the customary Guard of Honour and brought to his ancestral place in Yogendra Vihar in Naubasta area here.

His family, relatives, city administration officials and several political leaders paid their last respects, the ACM said.

Kanpur BJP president Surendra Gaithani said that he would try to bring Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, who will visit the city tonight, to the martyr's residence.

The family members of the deceased submitted a memorandum to the ACM among which a government job for his wife and free of cost education for his daughter in Army school are the demands.
