Somalian national held for stealing cash & gadgets

A 27-year-old Somalian national was today arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 33 lakh cash and three gadgets from a house in Tolichowki area here, police said.

The accused was identified as Mohammed Wali Ali Mohammed, a student of BBA final year studying at a college here, they said.

"Based on the CCTV camera footage, he was arrested today in an October 7 case of house-breaking," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) A Venkateswara Rao said.

Ali Mohammed came to India in 2014 on a student visa and he has been studying in Nizam College at Abids here. From June this year, he started selling ganja and was arrested by the Excise officials the same month, the DCP said.
 

"After he was released on bail in August, he decided to commit thefts to meet his expenses, including the lawyers fees for fighting the the narcotics case against him," the senior police official said.

Police recovered a cash of Rs 27.71 lakh from him, besides gadgets, including two tabs, that he had allegedly stolen from the house, the DCP added.
