Some BJP workers and ministers in the Maharashtra government are still in the mindset of "opposition leaders" and hence sometimes they go overboard and speak on issues contradicting with higher authorities, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said.

Speaking to a select group of mediapersons last night at his official residence here, he also said that he has been talking to his Cabinet colleagues and party workers regarding the "miscommunication" which ultimately affects the image of the BJP-led government in the state.

BJP in alliance with Shiv Sena is in power in Maharashtra.

"When we were in the Opposition in the state Assembly, our loose comments or cursory remarks were not taken much seriously. Now, we are part of the state government and our every move is watched and interpreted in many ways. Hence, we have to be more careful," the Chief Minister said.

Asked about his stand on separate Vidarbha state, Fadnavis said, "Formation of a state is the Union government's decision. As a Chief Minister, I can do development of Vidarbha region, which was halted for a long time. And I will continue to do so."

In 2011, when Fadnavis was an MLA, he had said BJP had supported the Telangana struggle and would fight for creation of Vidarbha.
