Warning strict action against those trying to vitiate communal atmosphere of Uttar Pradesh, ruling Samajwadi Party today said the state government would "punish" officers found guilty of laxity in discharge of duties.
"There are some forces active in the state that want to vitiate communal atmosphere here...Such forces cannot be given a free hand and for this the officer found lax will be punished by the Chief Minister," state minister and SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said here.
"The CM says that he will not work under any pressure of communal and anti-democracy forces," he said, adding by criticising administrative and policy decision of the government, opposition parties are insulting public support that SP had got in assembly polls.
