Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said some people from the state were also among those kidnapped by a Sunni militant group in Iraq and all efforts are being made to ensure their release.
"There are a few people from Himachal Pradesh who have been kept hostages by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militant group and I assure their families that the state government would make every effort to get them back home.
"The issue will also be taken up with Iraqi government through Ministry of External Affairs," the Chief Minister said.

"We are trying to get as much information as possible about the kidnapped Indian nationals from all concerned agencies," he said.
Singh said it was unfortunate that the militancy in Iraq as well as in few other countries has paralysed the lives of people.
The Chief Minister said the militancy should strictly be dealt and curbed, as no nation can prosper and develop where people always have to live under the shadow of guns and fear.
