BJP MP from Patna Saheb Shatrughan Sinha, who is accused of ignoring the needs of people of his constituency, today rubbished the charge saying it was handiwork of some vested interest in his own party.

"I am not fly by night kind of politicians which film stars and other popular personalities who enter into politics are generally accused of...Its a baseless allegation leveled by vested interest some of them in my party BJP for political reasons," Sinha told PTI.

Claiming that he was being ignored within his party because of some leaders who were afraid of his personality and popularity, Sinha said, "but, I have never ignored people of Patna Saheb who voted for me heavily in the last general elections."

He said in the past one year of his election as Lok Sabha member from Patna Saheb for second consecutive term, he had sent 156 recommendations from MPLAD fund for construction of PCC roads, community halls, ambulance and handpump installation among others in his constituency.

"Out of these recommendations, 39 had been sanctioned and work was going on, while the rest were in the process of approval," said Sinha, popularly known as "Bihari Babu".

The BJP MP said due to his sustained efforts, the proposal for construction of a new sump house at Ashoknagar in Kankerbagh had been accepted by the state government and Secretary to the urban development department has given assurance that work would start on it soon.

The new sump house would be a boon for people of heavily populated Kankerbagh and adjoining areas which faces water logging during the rainy season.

Sinha had on Wednesday inaugurated a bridge at Gyaspur in riverine area near Fatuha in rural Patna.
