Alleging that something was fishy in the Jet-Etihad deal, BJP today demanded that the Prime Minister's Office should come clear on the issue.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said a note by the Civil Aviation Ministry on the Jet-Etihad deal had stated that the Prime Minister's Office wanted changes to be made in a note for the Cabinet.

"There is something fishy in this deal. The Prime Minister's Office should clarify its stand on the issue," he said.

Hussain, former Civil Aviation Minister, said bilateral issues never go to the Cabinet and these are decided by inter-ministerial group. "The PMO is setting a new trend here," he said.

The allegation comes amid reports that PMO had raised questions over equity sharing agreement between Jet Airways and Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways. The PMO today said the deal was between two parties and issues raised over it have been referred to various ministries and departments for clarification.
