The 50-year-old woman, whose body was found stuffed in the box space of a bed at her residence in Vikaspuri area of west Delhi, was allegedly killed by her son who has been arrested, police said today.

19-year-old Vijay was arrested from Subhash Nagar area where one of the deceased's daughters stays.

The deceased was identified as Somitra Devi. On Sunday around 3:35 PM her elder son Bablu informed the police that his mother's body was found inside the bed box, a senior police officer said, adding that there were strangulation marks on her neck.

Somitra's younger son was found missing since morning following which a manhunt was launched to nab him as under the circumstances, he was the prime suspect. He was finally apprehended from Subhash Nagar within a few hours, police said.

"During interrogation, Vijay disclosed that he had a quarrel with his mother on the fateful day. In the scuffle, when she was beating him, he put a dupatta around her neck and strangulated her as a result of which she collapsed.

"He then dumped the body in double bed's box and locked the house before fleeing. He threw the bunch of keys in a drain in front of C-Block Gurudwara, near PVR and at his disclosure the bunch of keys has been recovered," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ranveer Singh.
