Son held for killing father

A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his father by attacking him on his head at a village in Panchmahal district, police said today.

The incident took place on Thursday when Somabhai Pagi (55) was attacked with a heavy stone by his son, Mahesh while they were at a agriculture field in Rasulpur village in Morva taluka, nearly 80 kms from here, Morva police station office Kantibhai M said.

An altercation broke out between the two after Mahesh, who was in an inebriated condition, confronted his father over his re-marriage. He quarrelled that why his father was not supporting him, suddenly in a fit of rage he picked up a stone and hit on his father's head, killing on the spot, the official said.
 

Pagi's wife and his younger son were working in a field nearby, rushed to the spot after hearing screams.

A case has been lodged against the accused under section 302 (murder) and other relevant sections of the IPC and further investigations were underway, police said.
