A 90-year-old woman was allegedly smashed to death with a brick by her son over property dispute at Khajuri village in the district, police said today.
Sundara Devi, was killed yesterday by her younger son, Shyam, over a plot of land which the victim had received from her paternal side, police said.
Shyam hit her mother with bricks while she had gone to relieve herself near the pond fearing that she would give all her property to his elder brother, police said, adding that the victim died on the spot and her body was discovered by the villagers.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the blood-stained brick has been recovered from the spot, they said.
The accused is absconding and the efforts are being made to nab him, police added.
