Jatin allegedly killed his father Dhiman (62) on Sunday and kept the body inside his house till Tuesday after which he decided to burn it.
Police said a constable, who was on night duty, noticed flames from Jatin's house in Press Enclave on Tuesday after which he informed fire personnel.
"When the fire was extinguished, a charred body of a man in his 60s was found inside the house," a senior police official said.
Dhiman lost his wife in March this year.
After the incident, Jatin was missing from his house but was arrested by police later.
During interrogation, the accused told police that his father was a alcoholic and never gave money to him for his expenses.
