Sonia arrives in Mumbai, to address media conclave tomorrow

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi arrived here today to take part in a conclave being attended by business tycoons, politicians, thought leaders and icons from various fields.

She will deliver a keynote address, "Re-imagingIndia - The agenda for change', at the India Today Conclave beginning tomorrow.

The UPA chairperson is being accompanied by Congress leader and former Union minister Kumari Selja.

On her arrival at the airport, Gandhi was welcomed by Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan, AICC general secretary MohanPrakash, Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam and senior leader KripashankarSingh.

She later held a meeting with state party leaders at a hotel.
 

This is Gandhi's first visit to Mumbai after handing over the charge of Congress president to her son Rahul Gandhi in mid-December.

She is also scheduled to call on ailing senior party leader from Maharashtra Patangrao Kadam at Lilavati Hospital during her stay in the city, Congress sources said.

Former Indian cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly, poet Rupi Kaur, actors Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and economist Arvind Panagariya, among others, will speak at the two-day meet.
