Sonia Gandhi sends 'chaadar' to Ajmer Dargah

A 'chaadar' was today offered on behalf of Congress president Sonia Gandhi at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti here with a message of peace and brotherhood.

Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot offered the chaadar and flowers on her behalf at the dargah of 'Khwaja Garib Nawaz' on the occasion of 805th Urs (festival) of the saint.

Gandhi extended her best wishes to all the devotees who have come to pay their respects at the dargah from all over the world and said Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti gave the message of love, devotion and service to mankind.
 

The dargah embraces every one with open arms without any discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, creed or colour, she said in the message.

It symbolises the synthesis of our country's culture where the hopes and prayers of all communities amalgamate to create a spirit of peace and harmony, Gandhi said.

His inspiring teachings continue to sustain the flame of divine love and spiritually and reinforces the message of global peace and universal brotherhood, she said.

Former union minister Namo Narayan Meena, Mahadev Singh Khandela, AICC secretary Mirza Irshad Beg, MLA Ram Narayan Gujar, DCC chief Bhupender Singh Rathore were also present at the dargag.

Khadim Gani Gurdeji did dastarbandi of all and gave 'tabrukh' for Gandhi.

Khwaja Chishti, a great 6th century sufi saint, is also known as 'Gharib Nawaz' (patron of the poor).
