Sonia has told govt to ensure economic situation doesn't hit : Raj Babbar

Cong chief wants the government to see that the common man does not get hit in the unfolding economic scenario

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has told the government to ensure that the common man is not affected by the crisis in the economy at a time when the slide of rupee is causing concern all around.

Party spokesman Raj Babbar told reporters that the party chief wanted the government to see that the common man does not get hit in the unfolding economic scenario.

'You want to give numbers to him, before he makes a statement', he remarked when asked whether the serious crisis in the economy showed the economist-turned-Prime Minister has failed in his job.

Asked whether the prices of diesel and petrol will not rise in the changing economic scenario, he said efforts will be made to find ways and means to tide over the situation.

Under attack in Parliament over the sliding rupee, the Prime Minster today conceded that the country was facing a 'difficult' economic situation and has to reckon with the uncertainties created by global factors like tensions in Syria.

The opposition said there was panic in the country over the sliding rupee and creating uproar.
