Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today directed senior officials to ensure expediting file movement in the interest of stimulating overall development and speedy implementation of government schemes.

"A section of people have alleged that the speed of government works has slowed down and there has been negative impact on work culture. Against this backdrop, all government departments have to take responsibility to restore people's trust in governance," Sonowal told officials at a meeting here.

Government officials have immense experience and this vast experience has to be translated into action with senior officials serving as role model for juniors and other employees, Sonowal said.

Both central and state governments have taken several schemes and flawless implementation of them will lead to overall development of the state, he said.

The present state government is committed to form a state free from corruption, pollution, terrorism and illegal foreigners and for that, everybody has to take responsibility, the chief minister said adding, the government has to stand by the people during any exigency.

In the recent wave of floods, every effort has been made by the state government to reach out to the affected people and in the coming days all steps will be taken in making the government more responsive and accountable.
