Asserting that terrorism is no longer a threat in Assam, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today appealed to industrialists to become partners of his state and work together for the growth of the nation.

Inviting industrialists to the first-ever global investors' summit to be held in Guwahati on February 3 and 4, 2018, Sonowal said Assam was a state full of potential, prosperity and possibility and added that terrorism was no longer a threat there.

Delivering his keynote address at the 'Advantage Assam: Global Investors' Summit' here, Sonowal said Assam was a land with verdant natural and mineral resources with a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for investment.

The chief minister called upon the investors to invest in Assam with an open mind and the government would provide all possible support to the investors to develop their business.

He said a new industrial policy in line with the now- defunct North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy was in the pipeline, as the Centre was actively considering announcing the new industrial policy to incentivise investments in Assam.

The chief minister said ever since the new government assumed charge in the state, it had been steadfastly pursuing the agenda of inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Sonowal said his government would continue to lay emphasis on the ease of doing business and proactive investor facilitation in line with the vision set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He hailed the prime minister for describing the north- eastern region as 'Astha Laxmi' and terming it as the new growth engine which would set the momentum for development.

The chief minister said under the renewed attention of the central government towards north-east's development and in the backdrop of the 'Act East Policy', Assam is tipped to be the gateway for the East and South East Asian Nations.

The region, especially Assam, is opening up for a market of 180 crore people of ASEAN countries.
