Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has congratulated athlete Hima Das and her team for clinching gold in 4x400 metre women's relay in the Asian Games in Jakarta.
Sonowal said Hima, who hails from Assam, and other athletes have made the countrymen proud.
"Stupendous performance by the team of Hima Das, PR Machettira, Saritaben Gayakwad and VV Koroth to convincingly win the gold in women's 4x400 metre relay," he said.
The Indian women's quartet ran 3 minute and 28.72 seconds to claim the gold.
Bahrain (3:30.61) and Vietnam (3:33.23) took the silver and bronze respectively.
India has been winning the gold in this event since 2002 Asian Games.
