Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today flagged off the MTB Tawang Challenge Cycling Competition and expressed confidence that it would give a "new dimension" to tourism in the state.
The cycling competition is organised by the state government's Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, and will coincide with the forthcoming Tawang Festival, 2017.
"The initiative of the Arunachal Pradesh Government to organise the Tawang Challenge cycling competition to promote the Tawang Festival is very praiseworthy. This will definitely help in giving a new dimension to tourism of the state as well as the entire North Eastern region," Sonowal said.

Several cyclists from all over the country have taken part in the cycling competition, which will cover 500 km of difficult terrain during the six-day journey culminating on October 28.
