Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the state DGP to revamp the police force and take appropriate steps for its modernisation.
At a high-level meeting here, Sonowal asked the DGP to go for "skill upgradation and modernisation" of the police force to prepare it to face all kinds of situation professionally, a government release said today.
In the face of the changing dynamics of crimes, modernisation of police has become an inevitability to fortify the forces to put a curb on crimes, the chief minister said at the meeting yesterday.
He instructed the DGP to go the "whole hog" for innovations to enable all the wings of the state police to deal with all kinds of exigencies and asked the police to bring Guwahati under CCTV coverage and operationalise all such cameras in the city within a month.
