The festival will open with a 'fire jugglery' performance by Hungarian blind artiste Tamas Zarco and a contemporary dance item by Samudra, the society secretary Soorya Krishnamoorthy told reporters here.
Malayalam film director Madhupal's new film "Ozhimuri" would also be screened at the inaugural.
The Soorya festival was now an year-long programme with the Soorya society conducting mini events at different cities all through the year, Krishnamoorthy said.
The Thiruvananthapuram edition of the event comprises film festival, dance and music fstival, theatre festival, Ramayanam festival, folk arts festival, talk festival, poets and story writers' meet and comedy festival.
The two-day concluding ceremony would be held on January 8 and January 9 next year, he said.
