With the restriction on movement of potatoes outside West Bengal, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today promised to take up the issue with his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee.

Soren, who was in the steel city to pay tribute to the slain JMM president Nirmal Mahato on his 27th death anniversary here, said such situation had arisen in June last and resolved after he had taken up the issue with Banerjee.

Stating that "West Bengal is our neighbour," Soren said he would speak to Banerjee soon to resolve the crisis.

Meanwhile, the prices of the tuber went up in markets here.

Nirmal Mahato had been gunned down in front of Chamaria Guest House on August 8, 1987. A function was organised to mark the death anniversary of Mahato.
