South Central Railway (SCR) has clocked gross earnings of Rs 7,823 crore in the April-October period of the current fiscal, up 13 per cent from Rs 6,922 crore posted in the same period of last financial year.
The Secunderabad-based Railway zone posted originating freight loading of 64.297 million tonnes (MTs) in the period under review, yielding earnings of Rs 5,509 crore, SCR General Manager Ravindra Gupta told reporters here today.
"SCR carried 217.17 millions of originating passengers ie around 10.2 lakh passengers on an average per day. Passenger earnings were Rs 1,958 crore in the current fiscal (April-October) which is 10 per cent over the previous fiscal's Rs 1,784 crore," Gupta said.

The MMTS Phase II works (Hyderabad suburban rail system) in the city are underway, he said, adding action plan has been initiated to remove all the unmanned level crossings under the SCR zone by the end of 2017.
