South Zone have bagged 21 medals, including eight gold, to retain the team championship title in the 20th National Sport Climbing Championship here.
South Zone finished with eight gold, five silver and eight bronze medals to top the tally followed by West Zone with three golds, five silvers and two bronzes, while North had a share of 1-3-2 in Indian Mountaineering Foundation meet that concluded at the Salt Lake Stadium yesterday.
Services havaldar Somnath Shinde won the lead climb in the men's category for his electrifying ascend on the 17-metre artificial wall studded with bolts and foot holds, while Siddhi Manerikar of North Zone defeated last year's winner Neha Prakash of South zone in the women's section.
