Soyabean futures decline on weak global cues

Soyabean prices dropped by 0.89 per cent in futures trading today after traders trimmed their positions, tracking weak trend overseas.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soyabean for delivery in October month contracts moved down by Rs 29, or 0.89 per cent, to Rs 3,219 per quintal, having an open interest of 67,110 lots.

On similar lines, soybean for delivery in far-month was down by Rs 27, or 0.83 per cent, at Rs 3,213 per quintal. Open interest stood of 59,990 lots.

Marketmen said weak trend in global markets following reports of bumper crops for the second straight year in the US weighed on soyabean futures here.
 

Besides, slackened domestic demand too dampened trading sentiment to some extent, they added.
