Soyameal exports fell by 68 per cent to 1.83 lakh tonnes last month due to lower supply of soyabean for crushing operations, according to trade data.

"Exports of soyabean meal during February 2014 was 1.83 lakh tonnes as compared to 5.77 lakh tonnes in February 2013, showing a decrease by 68.28 per cent over the same period of last year," Soyabean Processors Association (SOPA) said in a statement.

"This decline in the export is primarily due to lower arrival of soybean resulting the lower crushing," it added.

During October-February period of current oil year, the exports dipped by 24 per cent to 17.32 lakh tonnes as against 22.77 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period.

Oil year runs from October to September. Iran, Japan, Korea and Thailand are the major importers of Indian soyameal.
