Soybean futures climb on positive global cues

Taking positive cues from global market, soybean prices firmed up by Rs 72 to Rs 4,073 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators raised their bets.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soybean delivery for the most-active June edged up by Rs 72, or 1.80 per cent, to Rs 4,073 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,01,910 lots.

Similarly, soybean for delivery in current month spurted by Rs 66, or 1.71 per cent, to Rs 3,923 per quintal, in an open interest of 20,580 lots.

Marketmen said building up of fresh positions by participants, taking positive cues from global market, mainly helped soybean futures to trade higher.
 

Besides, strong demand for edible oils in spot markets too influenced prices, they added.
