Soybean prices fell by Rs 53 to Rs 3,799 per quintal in futures trade today following trimming of bets by the speculators in tune with lower overseas trend.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, soybean for delivery in May fell by Rs 53, or 1.38 per cent, to Rs 3,799 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,85,280 lots.

Similarly, the delivery for current month contracts dropped by Rs 53, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 3,755 per quintal with a business turnover of 24,310 open lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in soybean futures prices to cutting down of positions coupled with falling prices in global market.
