Soybean futures rise on uptick in demand

Soybean futures prices surged by Rs 33 to Rs 3,938 per quintal in futures trade on Thursday as participants raised bets.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soybean for delivery in September contracts rose by Rs 33, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 3,938 per quintal clocking an open interest of 2,000 lots.

The contracts for October delivery traded higher by Rs 8, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 3,722 per quintal in an open interest of 42,800 lots.

Marketmen said raising of holdings by participants amid increase in demand, lifted soybean prices in futures trade here.
