The Jammu and Kashmir Congress leadership today appealed to the people to cast their vote in favour of the party's candidates, and reject sectarianism and communalism.

"We urge the people to reject sectarianism and communalism in Jammu and Kashmir," Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Saif-uddin Soz told a public rally at Bhour-Camp in Jammu today.

Flanked by two Congress candidates Ghulam Nabi Azad and Madan Lal Sharma, Soz appealed to the people to cast their votes wholeheartedly in favour of the party for secularism, peace, progress and dignity of Jammu and Kashmir.

He welcomed Union minister Azad's presence in Jammu and candidature for Udhampur, and said that it would have good effect in both the constituencies. He expressed hope that both candidates will win with a thumping majority.

Speaking on the occasion, Azad said it is the Congress party alone which is interested in all-round development and progress of the people and has always cared about the downtrodden.

He said no other party has the talent to serve the best interests of the people. Azad further stressed the point that BJP's agenda was sectarianism, divisive and communal.

Jammu nominee Sharma said he would try his best to come up to the expectations of the people of Jammu and hoped that the people would vote for him.
