Talking to reporters, Sitaraman said, "This government is reduced to the minority after Trinamool Congress's withdrawal of support. Otherwise also it will crumble under its own burdens.
"If both these parties (SP, BSP) are serious in their opposition to FDI in retail...They should make their opposition meaningful by withdrawing the outside support to UPA government," she said.
Sitaraman said the BJP was not opposed to reforms, but the Manmohan Singh government took half-hearted steps without taking the alliance partners and other political parties into confidence.
"Without power reforms and inclusive financial growth of rural sector, the FDI in multi-brand retail is going to be harmful," she said.
The BJP leader also said the Prime Minister had failed to take action on the reports of three committees set up during chief ministers' conference in Delhi in 2010 -- one on price rise, headed by Narendra Modi, another headed by Raman Singh and the third on futures market, headed by Prakash Singh Badal.
On Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's statement that JD(U) would extend support to any political party which will give special status to his state, Sitaraman said, "Nitish Kumar is known for his anti-Congress movement."
