Samajwadi Party candidate for Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll Tej Pratap Yadav alias Teju today filed his nomination papers.
Yadav filed his nomination papers in presence of state minister Shivpal Yadav, MLAs Raj Kumar Yadav and Sobaran Singh Yadav, who proposed his name.
Yadav, an MBA from the UK and has shown Rs 1,52,242 as his income as per Income Tax return for 2013-14.
Before filing the nomination papers, party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav told the party workers that there was no contest with any party candidate as BSP has already left the field and the Congress has no place in Mainpuri.
"The BJP has not been able to even declare its candidate so far and is still in a dilemma to field a candidate," he said.
Cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav said if BJP fields its candidate on the seat then "it will be a symbolic contest".
On expelled SP leader Amar Singh's rejoining the party, he said Singh has not yet applied for the party membership.
"If he applies then it will be decided by the party national president," he said.
