Samajwadi Party has demanded a probe into allegations against RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, whose name cropped up after Swami Aseemanand, an accused in the Samjhauta Express and other blast cases, reportedly said the RSS leadership had allegedly "sanctioned" these acts of terror.

"We demand a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) against Bhagwat whose name surfaced in a statement made by Aseemanand during an interview," Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi said.

The SP legislator said those accused in 2006 Malegaon blasts are innocent and they should also be acquitted in the case.

Azmi, along with his supporters, also staged protest demonstrations at Azad Maidan against the RSS chief.
