Barring eight units, Samajwadi Party today dissolved its all district units in Uttar Pradesh, party spokesperson said.

"After the approval of party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, SP state president Akhilesh Yadav has dissolved all the district units of the party except Firozabad, Mainpuri, Kannauj, Badaun, Rampur, Azamgarh, Amethi and Raebareli," party state spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury said here.

All the district/city units with its presidents and entire executives have been dissolved with immediate effect, he said.

Earlier on May 22, after the poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls, SP had dissolved state unit of the party and 15 front wings associated with it.

The ruling party in the state was reduced to only five seats in the Lok Sabha polls (as compared to 23 seats in 2009) while BJP and its ally Apna Dal clinched 73 while Congress got two seats only.

Among the five seats, Yadav alone got two seats-- Mainpuri and Azamgarh while Kannauj, Badaun and Firozabad seats were clinched by his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav and nephews Dharmendra Yadav and Akshay Yadav respectively.

The party had been reviewing its performance since May 16, when the Lok Sabha results were declared.
