BJP President Amit Shah today accused the Samajwadi Party of pursuing politics of "caste, family and appeasement" in Uttar Pradesh.

He said this during a road show here on the last day of campaigning for the sixth phase of the UP assembly polls on March 4.

In his brief address just before the 5 PM deadline ending the campaign, he claimed that people had already done the job of handing over a majority to the BJP in the first five phases and the next two phases will take it to two-thirds majority.

"Every village and town in the state is distressed with the government's politics of caste, family and appeasement," he said, adding, however, they were happy with the Modi government's work at the Centre.

Accompanied by local MP and firebrand leader Yogi Adityanath besides a number of state and central leaders, Shah's cavalcade passed through two assembly seats falling in the city. BJP had won from both the seats in 2012 polls.

The district has 9 seats in total and the BSP and the SP had won 4 and 3 seats in the last polls besides the BJP's 2.

As many as 49 seats will go the polls in sixth phase. The ruling SP had swept the region in the last polls, leaving the BSP and the BJP far behind.
