Baburam was assaulted allegedly by the district president of Samajwadi Chattra Sabha, Lalla Yadav, and three of his supporters at a dhaba on Barabaki-Bahraich road last night, they said.
"The accused purportedly assaulted Baburam to put pressure on him in connection with a case," a police officer said, adding a case has been lodged against Yadav and his supporters in this regard.
In another incident, a health department employee, Dilip Kumar Pathak, was assaulted by the district president of SP Yuvjan Sabha, Mohd Ayaz, at Fatehpur community health centre over a petty issue.
Ayaz had come to the community health centre to get a cheque issued yesterday. When the employee asked him to wait for half an hour, Ayaz purportedly assaulted him, police said.
