Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, who was admitted to AIIMS last month following chest pain, has been discharged from the hospital.

Yadav was discharged today, an AIIMS official said.

On June the 23, 68-year-old politician was admitted in the cardiology unit of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after he complained of pain and discomfort in the chest and abdomen.

According to the doctor, Yadav has a history of vascular Ischaemic heart disease and was under follow up treatment for long.

In Ischaemic heart disease, there is a narrowing in the coronary arteries following which blood supply to the heart muscles is compromised.

Meanwhile, plaster from the ceiling of a toilet attached to the private ward where Yadav was admitted fell off last night but no one was hurt.

"Fortunately no one was no one inside the toilet so there was no mishap. The incident happened at night," said an AIIMS official.
