Some people opened fire at the car of Brijesh Verma near Biriya Nazirpur village last night and fled, police sources said.
Though no one was injured in the incident, the MLA's car was damaged.
Later, protesting against the incident MLA's supporters staged a road jam and damaged several vehicles.
Verma has lodged a named complaint against Chotey Lal, Vipin, Om Prakash and Shanti who are all supporters of SP nominee Satish Verma who had contested the election from Mallavan seat in the last assembly elections.
A hunt has been launched to nab the accused, police added.
