SP workers attacked by BJP men over protest against fare hike

Samjawadi Party workers were today allegedly attacked by BJP men while they tried to burn an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protest the hike in rail fare, police said.

SP workers led by their leader Shameem Khan took out a procession and staged demonstration, demanding an immediate roll back in the fares, they said.

Angry BJP workers allegedly attacked SP protesters with sticks when they tried to torch an effigy of the PM infront of the BJP office, police said.

SP leaders claimed that several workers sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Police used mild force to control the situation and took SP workers safely to Superintendent of Police's office.
 

Deputy SP Vivek Chandra Tripathi said that BJP workers allegedly attacked SP men and a complaint has been registered in this regard.
