Spain's King Felipe VI, in his annual Christmas Eve speech, has decried the Paris attacks that killed 130 people and left hundreds wounded.

In a live TV address, the king called the November 13 gun-and-bomb attacks as "authentic attacks on our model of co-existence and the most basic human values."

Felipe yesterday also urged Spaniards to remain united as the nation faces an uncertain political future after an election Sunday that splintered the nation's traditional two-party system as two upstart parties won substantial support.

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and his conservative Popular Party won the most votes but fell far short of a parliamentary majority. Rajoy is now trying to form a government but the opposition Socialist Party has rejected an alliance.
