Press Trust of India Guwahati
National NGO Child Rights Coalition (NNCRC) is concerned at the spurt in violent activities in Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) of Assam where a number of lives, including those of children, have been lost in violence there since last night.

"Children are supreme assets of our nation and they are, by and large, helpless against any sort of violence," a press release of North East Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses said today.

"India is a signatory to the Convention on the Rights of the Child which makes the state responsible for the overall protection and development of children," it said.

"Further, political issues need to be settled politically without, at the least, affecting well being of children," NESPYM president Dr Alaka Bhattacharyya said.
