Speaker P K Amat adjourned the Odisha Assembly till 3 pm Wednesday as the opposition Congress and BJP members raised slogans in the House.

As soon as the House assembled for Question Hour, the Congress and BJP members trooped into the well and raised their issues. The BJP members were seen wearing black gowns while Congress members attempted to climb on the Speaker's podium.

While Congress members wanted to know why their adjournment notice on law and order problem was not accepted by the Speaker, the BJP members raised an irregularity in the Biju Juva Vahini.

The Speaker adjourned the House till 10.30 am for one hour initially. The Speaker then again adjourned the House till 3 pm after the House reassembled at 11.30 am as the Congress members reiterated their demand for a motion for a debate on the law and order situation.

Earlier, the Congress had requested the Speaker through a notice for a motion on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

The BJP members also sought a reply from the government on the alleged large-scale bungling of state exchequer in the name of Biju Yuva Vahini.

"The state government has been avoiding an audit of funds being given to gram panchayats," BJP legislature Party leader K V Singhdeo said.

The ruling BJD members Samir Ranjan Dash and Byamokesh Ray raked up the issue related to the alleged derogatory statement Abhijit Iyer-Mitra on the Sun Temple at Konark and Lord Jagannath.
