The speaker of the Venezuelan National Assembly accused President Nicolas Maduro today of staging a "coup" after the Supreme Court took over the powers of the opposition-majority legislature.
"Nicolas Maduro has staged a coup in Venezuela," top lawmaker Julio Borges said in a fiery speech outside the National Assembly, after the high court -- condemned by the opposition as a Maduro lapdog -- granted itself legislative powers.
