NCP had moved the Speaker for their disqualification through its lone MLA Sanbor Shullai on the charge of violating the provisions of the anti-defection law.
Among the NCP MLAs who had joined the NPP was Leader of the Opposition Conrad K Sangma.
Sangma confirmed he had received the letter from the Speaker seeking for response from him and 10 other NCP MLAs who had joined NPP.
"I have asked for some more time from the Speaker to respond as all of our MLAs are busy camping in their constituencies ahead of elections," Conrad told PTI.
The Speaker, on the other hand said, he would study the NCP complaint and the responses from the NPP legislators before taking a final decision.
"After receiving the responses from the Opposition legislators, I will study and only then I will decide the future course of action that can be drawn against them," Pyngrope said.
However, the Opposition legislators are yet to submit all the relevant legal papers to the Speaker informing him about the merger of the eleven NCP MLAs with NPP.
The Assembly office still identifies the Opposition MLAs as members of the NCP technically in the absence of any document relating to the merger of NCP with NPP.
